Online – How to Write Good Social Stories – Mondays 17th and 24th November 3.30pm-5.30pm
£90.00
This course teaches you how to write a social story using the specific structure advocated by Carol Gray. You will learn how to spot an ineffective social story and how to collect the right information to form your story focus. The training includes writing a story for a child you know, guided by Lynn.
Carol Grey’s approach is followed throughout and we explore how Social Humility (Carol Grey) and Double Empathy (Dr Damian Milton) are key foundations for any Social Story writing. This course will teach you how to write affirming Social Stories that enable the autistic person to learn something helpful and useful in their lives.
We will be looking at how we can use AI to aid our social story writing.
Lynn McCann is trained in Social Story Writing by Carol Grey, and has written Social Stories for Primary children into a book called “Stories That Explain” published by LDA. A selection of her Social Stories have been symbolised and published by Widgit Software. She has been writing individual Social Stories with autistic children of primary and secondary ages for over 18 years.
