How To Write Social Stories

Many schools are advised to use Social Stories with autistic pupils but not everyone is sure what they are or how to write them. They can be an effective support if written well, but there is also a lot of misunderstanding of how to write social stories resulting in inefective, and sometimes harmful attempts to change child’s behaviour.

This course will teach you how to write a social story, how to personalise them and when and when not you should use them with autistic pupils.  You will write your own story and receive a copy of Lynn McCann’s book -  “Stories that Explain” a collection of over 60 editable social stories for you to use in your setting. This course is suitable for teachers, SENCOs, TAs, parents and anyone working with autistic young people.

Who is it for:

Primary, Secondary and Special school staff.  Parents and other agencies who work with autistic children and young people.
